Referring a friend is a great way to tell others about Grassroots Workshops.
As with all offers, there are a few rules (or Terms and Conditions, but let’s not get too formal) so everyone plays fair. Here they are…
Once you're a Grassroots Workshops customer, you can refer as many friends as you want. There’s no limit, but there in one requirement: your friends must be completely new to Grassroots Workshops. They must have never taken a workshop with Grassroots Workshops, regardless of whether it was a free, discounted, or full-priced workshop. You also can only have one Grassroots Workshops account (which must have a problem-free history) and can’t refer yourself or an entity that is really "you." We know that you know what's fair so we appreciate your help here.
You can post the unique referral code or link on your personal social media accounts, but not on sites that are contributed to or are owned by someone else (e.g. Wikipedia and coupon websites). Using Search Engine Marketing (e.g. Adwords, Yahoo, or Bing) or the words ‘coupon’, ‘code’, ‘promo code’, ‘discount code’, ‘voucher code’, ‘referral code’, ‘referral’, ‘voucher’, or similar words must not be used to promote posts.
If referred friends have never registered for an online workshop with Grassroots Workshops, they can use your referral code and you'll receive the referral credit. After they have taken their first online workshop with us, they can start referring their own friends.
Using the Referral Code
To use a referral code, a referred friend must enter the correct code into the “Referral Code” box in the “Payment” section on the “Registration” page and click the “Add” button for it to apply. The referral code can only be used for workshops purchased without coupons. While your referral code should be automatically entered if the referred friend clicks on the referral code link, it can also be manually entered or copied and pasted.
Once your friend has registered for the workshop and paid the registration fee, you will receive a referral credit equal to one-third of the value of the workshop that can be applied to a future workshop. (For example, you’ll earn a $99 credit for a $297 workshop.) These credits can be stacked, so if you earn three $99 referral credits for a total of $297, you can use it to take a full-priced workshop for free.
About Referral Credits
The referral credits have no official monetary value and can’t be exchanged, transferred, redeemed, replaced, or refunded for cash. Referral credits can be used for both full-priced and discounted online workshops from Grassroots Workshops. They can neither be used to pay for credits from University of Massachusetts Global or other partners, nor to purchase any other items for sale on Grassroots Workshops including books, manipulatives, shipping and handling fees, gift cards, or taxes. Referral credits expire two years from the date the referred friend made their purchase.
Referral credits will be listed in your account immediately after a referred friend makes a purchase and uses your referral code. However, the referral credits will not be useable until ten business days after the workshop ends or when the workshop has been paid in full, whichever comes second. This is to prevent unintended situations such as (but not limited to), a referred friend registering for a workshop:
- and then canceling his or her order before the workshop begins;
- and then requesting a refund after the workshop ends; or
- using a purchase order but not paying for the workshop
If you have unused referral credits and choose to close your account, the credits will immediately expire.
If the rules or incentives change or end, we will reflect the changes here. This is not expected to happen often.
