To help you get there, we’ll begin by exploring why it’s important to differentiate between textbook and classroom experiences. Then we’ll talk about how these science lessons might look like in your elementary classroom. Afterwards, we’ll dive into how we might prepare a lesson for a particular science concept (i.e. astronomy, ecology, anything!). Then we’ll learn about the different ways that we can capture our students’ attention when we first introduce this concept. Finally, we will learn about strategies of how to best facilitate a science lesson.
About the Instructor
Isabella Liu is an award winning science educator and founder of Rise & Repeat, a professional development organization offering workshops and courses for the 21st century educator. Isabella is currently teaching Science and AP Chemistry in Toronto, Ontario and has taught students in three different countries, including Hong Kong and Nanjing, China. She is passionate about learning about emerging educational technologies (EdTech) to enhance her students’ learning. She has an established skill set with working in secondary education and non-profit industries. Through her learning journey with technology, she became an Apple Distinguished Educator and a Google educator for Education Certified Trainer program. Furthermore, she has worked with National Geographic in implementing their professional development program for educators around the world.
