About This Workshop

Math curriculum often prevents students from having stronger number sense and mathematical reasoning, so I designed a workshop for math teachers that uses estimation tasks and a framework of tips and tools to unlock the number sense and mathematical reasoning skills of their students.

We'll begin by exploring why number sense and mathematical reasoning skills are so important. Then we'll focus on facilitating estimation tasks in your classroom so students strengthen their number sense with the help of a math reasoning framework. From there we'll discuss useful tips and strategies to consider when tasks don’t go as planned, students disengage, or other typical classroom challenges. Finally, we'll finish the workshop by connecting the estimation tasks, math reasoning framework and number sense skills with the many parts of your math class.
